Biography

Mahnwache "vigil for the dead and the living," is an atmospheric black metal band from the Netherlands.

Formed in 2024 as a duo by vocalist Maria the Sinner and guitarist Jurran van den Brink. Mahnwache made their debut that same year with the single "Mahnwache." The track's title embodies the essence of the vigil: a tribute to remembrance and reverence for eternal life. Through both the music and the accompanying video, the listener is drawn into a realm of reflection, a place where respect, grief, and transcendence intertwine. A silent protest. A final farewell to what once was.

On November 6, 2025, Mahnwache released their debut EP, Himmelsfahrt Kommando, featuring three tracks: "Himmelsfahrt Kommando," "Totentanz," and "Memoria."

The EP takes the listener on a conceptual journey through the stages beyond death, from the mission to attain eternal life, to the ritual celebration of transcendence, and finally, to the everlasting remembrance of both the living and the departed.
